Thomas J. Baker, Esq. is an experienced immigration and criminal defense attorney with nearly 13 years of experience representing noncitizens facing some of the most complex legal challenges in the immigration system. Based in Sacramento, California, Thomas leads Capital Gateway Immigration, APLC, where he and his team manage a broad caseload involving U-Visa petitions, waivers, removal defense, humanitarian relief, and post-conviction relief. He has handled more than 2,000 immigration and criminal defense matters and frequently teaches and consults on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions. A recognized voice in the field, Thomas served as the AILA liaison to the Sacramento Immigration Court and has presented CLEs, paralegal ethics courses, and Know Your Rights training webinars. He is licensed in California and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Central Districts of California.
