Kim’s Message: Celebrating M.A.M. Winners & Micro Joy Moments

Every August we spoil our CEA Members with free webinars, games, and prizes, during Membership Appreciation Month (MAM). It’s our way of saying THANK YOU to our members for placing their trust in CEA when it comes to Human Resource support.

It’s been fun receiving feedback from our winners—many of whom are genuinely surprised to find out they’ve won something! As my daughter, the event planner, says, “Mom, people love it when you ‘surprise and delight them’, no matter how big or small the gift”. She’s right—taking a moment to celebrate and reflect on the simple joys in life is good for all of us.

Have you heard the new term for enjoying life’s simple pleasures? The word being used now, is Microjoys! Microjoys are a practice in noticing joy, even in the most challenging times. Unlike major life milestones that often come with high expectations, micro joys are accessible and abundant. They generally don’t require effort, money, or planning, just awareness and appreciation. Everyday things like watching a sunset, savoring a cup of coffee, snuggling with a pet, or sharing a funny story with a co-worker can really make a difference in your attitude.

Cyndie Spiegel’s book Microjoys: Finding Hope (Especially) When Life Is Not Okay, helps people find light and ground themselves during hard times in everyday life. She says when you learn to recognize and savor microjoys you can tap into a steady stream of quiet happiness that can uplift your entire emotional state.

We had a great time engaging with members, mailing out gift cards, and giving away a night in Monterey last month! Here’s to celebrating all of life’s gifts, big or small!
